Abstrakt (anglicky)
Sedimentary record of the Ploučnice River system, which is situated in the northern part of the Bohemian Massif, provide remarkable data for the study of climatic changes and tectonic activity during Quaternary period. The evolution of the Ploučnice River system was affected by several phases of the continental glaciation during Middle Pleistocene. The remains of three "doubled" terraces are preserved in middle stream (Tyráček and Havlíček 2009). This study is based on architectural, litofacial and morphotectonic analysis. Irregular gradient curved line indicates influence of tectonic activity on river backward cutting during Quaternary. According to the morphology and sedimentary evidences we recognized three different types of river environments which participated during the evolution of the Ploučnice River system since last glacial to nowadays: 1. Late Glacial - braided floodplain which is represented by gravelly medium grained quartz sand. 2. Transition from the Late Glacial to the
Holocene period - anastomosing river environment which is represented by succession of silty fine to medium grained sand with some gravel. 3. Holocene period - meandering river environment with sediments consisting of very fine-grained to medium grained sand which pass downward to sandy silt with organic matter. We expect that ongoing cosmogenic nuclides dating will help to better understand timing of these changes in fluvial style.
