Abstrakt (anglicky)
   Based on detailed mesostructural analysis and microscopic study of drill-core samples coming from the Palaeozoic sequences of the border zone of the Upper Silesia and Malopolska blocks, several stages of structural evolution of this area were distinguished. These were strictly related to a plyphase activity of the Kraków-Lubliniec fault zone, which most probably, represented a fragment of the transcontinental tectonic line of Hamburg-Kraków. This zone, of Proterozoic foundations, is a direct boundary between the blocks (terranes) of Upper Silesia and of Malopolska. The structure, lithology and ages of the Lower Palaeozoic sequences composing the marginal parts of both of these blocks are much different. Lithostratigraphical-structural complexes common for both blocks appeared only as late as Early Devonian times. In the Palaeozoic rocks of the marginal part of the Upper Silesia block, three phases of tectonic deformations took place.
   which led to the formation of macrofolds, whereas in the marginal part of the Malopolska block, the effects of four such deformation events were recognized (including those affecting the ?Vendian-Lower Cambrian complex). In the contact zone of the Upper Silesia and Malopolska blocks, the dominant part was played by strike-slip motions, which were most active during two periods: at the and of Silurian (sinistral transpression) and during Late Carboniferous times (dextral transpression and transtension). During the latter period. Granitoid intrusions were emplaced in the marginal part of the Malopolska block. This area concentrates, as well, the majority of metamorphic phenomena.
   The regional metamorphism affected only the rocks of the ?Vendian-Lower Cambrian complex, whereas the later contact metamorphosism was strietly, related to the Late Carboniferous granitoid magmatism, and, apart from the ?Vendian-Lower Cambrian complex, it influenced also the sediments of the Ordovician, Silurian and, sometimes, also of the Devonian sequences
