Abstrakt (anglicky)
   Five different types of Czech building stones (Požáry diorite, Lipnice granite, Frývaldov granite, Slivenec limestone, Hořice sandstone) were exposed for 70 years at five different sites within the Czech republic. The stones were tested before exposure, and after 50 and 70 years of exposure. Despite loss of samples during the exposure and difficulties with changing analysis technology that prevented detailed comparison of weathering rates over different time periods in different locations, some trends could be observed. Testing of mechanical properties, for example, revealed more serious deterioration at 70 years than shown by measurement of weight loss. changes of rock microfabric due to the weathering were confirmed by optical microscopy and SEM observation.
   A combination of visible light optical microscopy and ultraviolet light microscopy of rock thin sections impregranted by epoxy resinfluorescent dye mixture provides a useful technique for cheap and informative analysis of pore space formed due to the weathering
