Abstrakt (anglicky)
One the possible aspect of the solution of the effect of continental conditions on the processes in the original marine Lower Carboniferous basin is the study of assemblages of fossil traces. This method can be on the whole applied successfully on the sediments of the Jeseníky Culm because the siliciclastic flysch sediments (Fammenian to Upper Viseán) contain relatively numerous ichnofossils. In the sedimentary record, a total of 27 ichnogenera were identified here. The Jeseníky Culm represents a relict of the Variscan tectogen, the origin of which was connected with the collision of the brunovistulicum and the cadomian units of the core of the Bohemian Massif. The rocks underwent tectonic and metamorphoic processes which in some places, especially in the western part of the territory, negatively, influenced the degree of the preservation of the ichnofossils.
An analysis of the ichnofossils of the Jeseníky Culm has shown that three ichnofacies can in principle be defined here: Cruziana, Zoophycos and Nereites (Fig.2). When compared with the lithology of host rocks, the assemblages of the Cruziana ichnofacies show a relation to laminites with many sedimentary textures, which suggest a higly dynamic environment with periodical supply of the terrigenous material. The Zoophycos ichnofacies appears in turbidites as well as in laminites and it is usually less sensitive towards the seidment lithology. But the assemblages of the Zoophycos ichnofacies, with some additional elements of the Nereites ichnofacies, mainly prefer fine laminites rich in clay sediments. The least dynamic, stabilized environments, with significant predominance of fine laminites and caly shales, is typical of the nereites ichnofacies. From the ichnofacial analysis of the Jeseníky Culm it is evident that ichnofossils are spread somewhat unequally.
Sections with numerous samples alternate with completely sterile sections. In spite of the clear connection between the fossils and the fine-grained sediments it is obvious that ichnofossils were space-ori
