   An underground gas storage facility has been under construction in contract of the Czech gas Works in the Central Bohemian Pluton of the Bohemian Massif south-east of Příbram since early 1990's. Natural gas should be stored in a system of deep caverns for the peak shaving of gas demand of the city of Prague. The host rock is prevalently undisturbed granite. It has proven necessary to develop a conceptual hydrogeological model of the rock massif influenced by the caverns. The necessity of the model is indicated also by the results of water pressure tests which show that the fracture zones crossing the cavern may be water-bearing. Major part of the study has been a numerical simulation of the hydraulic potential field and grounwater flow patterns by means of the numerical model STAFF3D (Huyakorn et al.1993).
   The aim of the groundwater flow simulation was the determination of the effective hydraulic parameters of the rock massif; the spatial distribution of hydraulic potential and, in particular, boundary condition of the 1st type caused by the hydraulic depression of the uranium mine; and the groundwater flow velocites and fluxes between massif and cavern. The completed parametric study represents the first stage of analysis procedure which should finally result in the operation plan of the Gas Storage Facility
