Abstrakt (anglicky)
   The G1 ROOF catchment runoff response to the clean rain treatment was modelled with the MAGIC Model. MAGIC was calibrated to the 2 years prior to the treatment, and then run formard in time to predict runoff chemistry in response to the changed deposition. After 4 years of treatment, measured concentrations of sulphate in runoff declined from 394 to 214 ueq/1 and inorganic Al declined from 277 to 110 ueq/l. Less dramatic declines were measured in concentrations of several base cations. ANC increased from - 264 to - 159 ueq/l. There was no change in pH. These changes were successfully predicted by the model. The clean rain treatment was projected by the model for 6 more years. At the end of 10 years of modelled treatment, the SO4 concentration was 132 ueq/l, and pH slightly increased, from 4.2 to 4.3. The results indicate that the experimental conditions created by the roof artificially reduce base cation (especially Ca) supply to the soil surface.
   With ambient base cation cycling a more rapid improvement of runoff quality could be expected
