Abstrakt (anglicky)
   The aim of the project was to gain new information about the interaction of marine and continental environments within the Phanerozoic (namely Paleozoic, Tertiary and Pleistocene). The research was based on the studies of local and global changes of faunistic and floristic assemblages. The research activities were organized in several working groups according to the individual problems, and their results were sumarized and theoretical generalizations followed (possible applications to paleontology, paleogeography and stratigraphy). Individual reserach themes a)Paleozoic : Analyses of offshore-onshore trends and of the evolution and extiction of the Upper Devonian and Lower carboniferous conodonts. Studies of conodont reactions within the main extinction intervals (Frasnian/Famennian boundary - the Kellwasser event, Devonian/Carboniferous boundary - the Hangenberg event, Middle/Upper Tournaisian and Tournaisian/Viséan boundaries).
   The comparison of evolutionary trends of conodont associations in various ecosystems and their use for a better understanding of the changes connected with the above mentioned crises (J. Kalvoda, Masaryk University, Brno). A detailed analysis of shallow-water facies in the sediments of the Moravian-Silesian Culm (Lower Carboniferous)based on their lithological and biological signs (sublittoral and Cruziana facies of the Nízký Jeseník Mts., Maleník and Drahany Upland areas). Paleontological (ichnofissils), stratigraphic, facial and chemical analyses of sediments, as well as reconstructions of environmental dynamics (possible terrestrial influences). Study of the evolution of ichnofossil assemblages in connection with global events. The paleoecological reconstruction of the sedimentation area (J. Zapletal, I. Pek, Palacký University, Olomouc).
   b)Tertiary and Quaternary: Studies of the unique associations of teleosts in autochthonous Paleogene sediments on the SE slopes of the Bohemian Massif. In this group, completion of the taxonomic studies and the explanation of the composition of ecologically controled associations of deep-water nekton from the Paleogene seas (R. Gregorová, Moravian Museum, Brno). Analysis of the influence of relative sea-level changes upon the sedimentation processes in the Lower Miocene sediments from the sw.part of the Carpathian Foredeep in Moravia. A detailed sedimentological and palaeoecological analysis of the Eggenburgian and Ottnangian sediments, based on borehole studies (namely PMK boreholes)in the wider surroundings of Miroslav with the aim of ascertaining the reactions of fauna (molluscs)and flora (pollen, spores)to the changes of the sedimentation area (connected above all with the sea-level changes).
   As a result of the fact that the shallow-water Eggenburgian and Ottnangian sediments accumulated near the shoreline, to study the very boundary area between the marine and continental environments and to correlate the evolutionary trends in both of these environments. Corre
