Abstract (in english)
After the floods in Moravia at the end of the 1990s I had the possibility to study organic sediments on selected localities from the palynological point of view. The study covered nearly in the whole watercourse of the Morava River. The study was carried out mainly on the project 6322 (Dynamics of sedimentation of Morava valley floodplain during floods). Therefore, the more continuous observation was carried out in the Litovelské Pomoraví area on localities Štěpánovská smuha, Hraniční Morava, Panenský les and Kladničí (near Olomouc). Particularly the watercourse of the Morava River is one of the remarkable phenomena in the current Moravian landscape. Due to the long-term action of natural processes and lately also to human activity the river largely shaped the river stream floodplain. Mainly after the catastrophic floods in the last years there is an effort to protect these territories. The Morava River is today, however, in the most part of its course destroyed by canalization.
The Morava River creates in its flood plain oxbow lakes, stream pools and other wetlands. Particular types are the seasonal or periodical pools, which are occasionally filled with floodwater. Their biotic component varies in dependence on their position on a meadow or in a forest. Forest pools are connected with floodplain forests and are usually the deepest part of floodplain channels, which are in the Haná area called smuhy. Individual plant communities change in accordance with geologic situation
