Abstract (in english)
   The vertebrate faunas of the Stephanian and Lower Permian of three of the best geologically and palaeontologically examined European basins, the Puertollano (Spain), Saar-Nahe and Saale basin (Germany) were investigated within the scope of IGCP 328. Basic informations on elasmobranch zonation of continental and continental/marine profiles is presented in combination with biostratigraphic results since the 1980s. The C/P boundary (Gzhelian/Asselian) is situated for the continental sequence in the Lowermost Rotliegend (Autunian) after calibrations with amphibian and insect zonations as well as isotopical and magnetostratigraphical data. Comparisons of identical assemblages of elasmobranch species from several basins of Upper Carboniferous age indicate immigrations from the sea, and faunal exchange between marine influenced (e.g. Puertollano and N-Germany) and more or less pure continental basins.
   The results provide an excellent perspective for further projects on Pangea-wide marine and non-marine correlation in the Late palaeozoic to Early Triassic
