Abstract (in english)
   Thermal maturity of the organic matter is analysed in several boreholes in the Czech part of the Upper Silesian Basin.The trends of coalification expressed as Rock-Eval pyrolysis peak temperature and vitrinite reflectance show regular increase with depth within the Visean and Namurian.A significantly lower coal rank in the overlying Neogene of the Carpathian Foredeep suggest that the Paleozoic rocks were buried to considerably temperatures at greater depth and uplifted prior to the deposition of Neogene strata.
