Abstract (in english)
The national Museum, Prague commemorated the 200th anniversary of Joachim Barrande, a French scientist who lived in Prague between 1832-1883 and most of that time devoted to the study of the Czech Lower Palaeozoic fauna, described and figured in his monumental work "Systeme silurien du centre de la Boheme". The National Museum, department of Palaeontology, as a their to Barrande's collections, prepared several events to commemorate this anniversary and to remember this great man of the world palaeontology: a book of modern reconstructions of life in various Lower Palaeozoic strata (artist, Jan Sovák); an exhibition of Sovák's reconstructions; a large exhibition called "Joachim Barrande (1799-1883), his life, work, and heritage to world palaeontology"; an illustrated catalogue of the same name; a facsimile of the first volume of "Systeme silurien du centre de la Boheme", part I, Trilobita (plates); the Barrande's conference 26th June 1999; and others
