Abstract (in english)
   A lignite from the Sokolov Basin with a defined range of grain size was oxidized on air at 140°C for up to 200 hours. By varying the duration of the oxidative treatment, samples with various degrees of oxidation were obtained which were analyzed by elemental analysis, petrographic analysis, and FTIR (DRIFT) spectroscopy. Ion-exchange properties of the oxidized coal samples were investigated by potentiomatry with H+ and Cdř+ ion-selective electrodes. Structural changes caused by the laboratory oxidation were studied in comparison with a naturally weathered coal-oxihumolite-collected in the same locality. The differences in the ion-exchange behaviour found between the oxidized coal and oxihumolite were ascribed to different physical properties of their surface
