Abstract (in english)
Discovery of the Koněprusy caves on September 14, 1950 is inseparable related to the "nestor" of the investigation of the Czech Karst - Mr. Jaroslav Petrbok, who has always been in the centre of attention for his extravagancy and has been subject of various often almost infatile stories and tales. Being the contemporary witness, the author of this article evaluates the real importance of this investigator who has gradually been forgotten and stultified often on purpose. As one of J.Petrbok's pupils I felt an obligation to set in order his creditable works during intial phases of the Koněprusy caves investigation, to clear him of various false allegations and untruths that were continuously granted to him and by this rehabilitate him particularly in front of young investigators that basically think of him only as being a caricature of uneducated, eccentric and almost wild men who was just an obstacle to the modern quarternary research
