Abstract (in english)
From the Paleogene of Saxony and Northern Bohemia (Late Eocene to Late Oligocene), leaves of Magnolia are described with regard to gross-morphology and anatomy. A new species Magnolia schaarschmidtii sp. n. can be identified for the first time. Besides, Magnolia maii WALTHER (Floral Assemblage Kleinsaubernitz) and Magnolia sp. (Floral Assemblage Seifhennersdorf-Kundratice or Suletice-Berand - Floral Assemblage Nerchau-Flörsheim) are critically discussed and interpreted. Magnolia is an accessory element of the warm-humid Evergreen Bog- Laurel- Forests of the Late Eocene and of the Oligocene Mixed Mesophytic Forests in Central Europe
