Abstract (in english)
   Biostratigraphic records (goniatites, tentaculites, brachiopods, trilobites) indicate a Lower Emsian (Zlíchovian) age for the Hunsrück Slate Formation (Bundenbach, Hunsrück, Rhenish Massif, Germany). Magmatic zircons from a stratiform volcaniclastic layer intercalated in the Hunsrück Slate Formation (Hans Member) were investigated by the single zircon Pb/Pb evaporation method. They gave a mean age of 388.7˝1.2 Ma (2-sigma-mean). According to modern time scales, based on isotopic ages, this correpsonds to the lowest Middle Devonian (Eifelian). Two possible conclusions are discussed: a) The Emsian/Eifelian and the Lower Devonian/Upper Devonian boundary, respectively, is younger than 388.7˝1.2 Ma, or b) the Hunsrück Slate Formation near Bundenbach has to be ascribed to the Middle Devonian
