Abstract (in english)
Changes in the organic matter of black shales, subituminous coals, brown coals and Cypris Formation claystone induced by weathering have been evaluated by micropetrographic methods. It has been found that all weathered brown and sub-bituminous coal samples exhibit changes in their optical properties and their morphology. All macerals show an increase in reflectance, although their responses differ. Cracks in vitrinite and huminite have been identified. No marked differences in the nature of the organic matter of the Cypris claystones and black shales were detected between rocks weathered to a low and high degree
