Abstract (in english)
A depth of 1000 m was reached already in the early fities after World War II in the central and northern coal field by sinking of the main shaft. Preparations for mining at a depth between 1000 to 1500 m go back to 1932. A detailed geological exploration of the eastern foreground of the Rosice-Oslavany Basin began in Permo-Carboniferous sediments of the Boskovice Graben in 1955. Further advance to a depth of 1453 m has been done by sinking of the Jindřich II shaft at Zbýšov near Brno. The mining operations were then concentrated to this shaft. Detailed exploration works preceded the mining operations. They were focused on the eastern frontal section of the mined part of the coal deposit. Other exploration activities were simultaneously carried out in order to secure a constant coal output from greater depths
