Abstract (in english)
Radiometric maps of terrestrial gamma radiation describe the level and distribution of natural radionuclides in rocks. Results of radiometric measurements and maps may be partially affected by statistical fluctuations of measured radioactivity, technical parameters of used instruments and their calibration. Verification of the Radiometric map of the Czech Republic 1 : 500 000 (MANOVÁ-MATOLÍN 1995) in the region of East Moravia was carried out by ground gamma ray spectrometry (GS) at 34 localities along the 200 km long Czech-Slovakian border (Tab. 1). Results of dynamic measurements of 34 regional 1 km long profiles, each measured in five 200 m sections, were compared to radiometric map dose rate data. The means of compared groups 46.8 nGy/h (GS) and 60.3 nGy/h (map) quantify their deviation in the studied region. Concentrations of K, U and Th (Tab.
1), indicating generally low radioactivity of sedimentary rocks of the West Carpathians flysh formation and Quaternary, were compared to K, U, Th data in the near border zone, after radiometric maps published in the geochemical Atlas of Slovakia (DANIEL-LUČIVJANSKÝ-STERCZ 1996) (Tab. 2). Regional radiometric study contributed to the knowledge of rock radioactivity and magnitude of data deviations
