Abstract (in english)
   Sedimentation and sedimentary fill of the Vienna basin depend on the tectonical preconditions of the basin formation, which is closely, connected with the alpine tectonics. The phases of the Prae-, proto- and Neo-Vienna Basin can be characterized by their particular geodynamics and the time space and areal extension of sediments. A relationship between subsidence, thickness and facies is evident as well as the large importance of sedimentary supply by rivers. By the existing literature a distinct part of the basin fill can already be classified by sequence stratigraphy. The Alpine-Carpathian allochthonous and the autochthonous floor of the basin are presented in brief. The Vienna Basin is rich in oil and gasfield, caused by many reservoir and trapping opportunities and by a thick deeply buried source rock. The most important structural traps are the Matzen anticline and the traps along the Steinberg fault.
   For the present time the challange is the further exploration of stratigraphic beside the structural traps. During the fieldtrip outcrops of Neogene sediments of different facies types are presented. A historical review deals with the exploration activity from the beginning in Austria till to the stage of the superdeep exploration, its results and its perspectives
