Abstract (in english)
With the exception of Metasequoia, all other conifer genera occuring in the Clarkia area (sites Clarkia, Emerald Creek, Oviatt Creek) and Spokane, northwestern USA, are represented in the European Neogene. Contacts of populations during the middle Tertiary between Europe and North America are indicated or closely allied vicariant species. These species are included in the following genera, Glyptostrobus, Taxodium, and Tetraclinic among Cupressales, Cathaya of the Pinales, Cephalotaxus of the Cephalotaxales and Amentotaxus and Taxus of the Taxales. Members of other shared genera (e.g. Cunninghamia, Calocedrus, Chamaecyparis, Pinus) stand taxonomically wider apart suggesting an earlier speciation
