Abstract (in english)
The soil sampling stage of any project is the most important, since if any mistakes are made at the beginning of a project are carried forward to the succeeding stages, and most importantly to the final interpretation of data and report writing. The members of the EuroGeoSurveys Geochemistry Expert Group, with their long experience in multi-national soil geochemical projects, are aware of the significance of good sampling procedures. The on-going GEMAS project's objective is to produce a harmonised geochemical database for agricultural and grazing land soil of Europe, in order for industry to provide the administration of REACH, among other variables, the baseline at the beginning of the twenty-first century against which future datasets will be compared.
