Abstract (in english)
   The net nitrogen-mineralization and basal net nitrification rates were determined in Of1, Of2 and Oh soil horizons of autochthonous mountain Picea abies stand in Trojmezná hora preserve (National Pak Šumava, Bohemian Forest, Czech Republic, 48°46'25''N, 13°51'04''E, elevation 1350 m a.s. l., exposition NNE, slope 5°) under relatively low SO2 stress. Different maximal rates of nitrification and N mineralization were found in individual soil horizons (2.0, 1.0 and 1.0 mg.kg-1, day-1, No3-N and 3.3, 6.4 and 2.6 mg.kg-1.day-1 N in Of1, Of2 and Oh horizons, respectively). Observed nitrification rates in Of2 and Oh horizons were slightly higher than those measured in relatively health Mečůvka stand in beskydy Mts. These results confirm that disintegration of the spruce stand, accompanied with the expansion of herbaceous vegetation, tends to enhanced nitrification.
   Together with ameliorative liming and/or increasing nitrogen deposition, enhanced nitrification can contribute to opening of the nitrogen cycle with further negative incidence on soil component of mountain forest ecosystems. The nitrogen availability in individual soil horizons was 1207 mg.kg-1 (Of1), 934 (Of2) an 570 mg.kg-1 (Oh), respectively
