Abstract (in english)
   A network of 13 small catchments was established to measure elemental fluxes for ecologically sensitive components, calculate input-output budgets and critical loads. To evaluate deterioration of environmental quality and ecosystem health status is the main aim of the project named as this contributions. Long-term monitoring in a network where standard methodology of both sample collection and sample analysis is ensured results in overall data comparability and consequently identification of regional trends in cycling of antropogenous components within the ecosystem. In catchemnts situated in areas of high immissions in which spruce forests have been adversely affected (Jizerské hory Mts., Krkonoše Mts., Orlické hory Mts., Krušné hory Mts.) there were observed higher rates of leaching of basic cations and trace metals and also generally higher sulphur fluxes when compared with less anthropogenically affected areas (Šumava Mts., Českomoravská vrchovina Mts.).
   A sizable difference between these two groups of catchments was found in nitrate nitrogen which can be used as an indicator of the forest health status. Damaged trees exhibit a lower capacity to take up nitrogen. More nitrogen is then leached and removed by surface discharge. In 1995 in comparison with 1994 only three catchemnts (Jezeří, Lysina, Pluhův bor) located in pollute area of Krušné hory Mts. region showed a decrease in sulphur deposition probably as a result of decreasing of imission loads. Critical loads for sulphur and nitrogen were estimated using monitoring data and compared for individual catchment with actual atmospheric deposition. In many places critical loads for both sulphur and nitrogen were exceeded
