Abstract (in english)
Results of documentation of deltaic, swampy and lacustrine deposits in faces of the Bílina opencast mine are presented. The following lithofacies (further divided into subfacies) were recognized in these deposits: swamp, prodelta, delta front, delta plain and lacustrine. Four main stages were distinguished within the paleogeografphic interpretation of the area since the end of the Oligocene to the Miocene: 1. peneplenization and filling of topographic, lows in paleorelief, 2. peat bog sedimentation, 3. deltaic sedimentation, 4. the onset of lacustrine sedimentation. Six phases were further distinguished within the stage of deltaic deposition ranging from delta progradation up to the max. area covered by the delta, followed by regression of deltaic environment (lake-level rise). Creation of accommodation space for sediment load was controlled primarily by peat compaction in the early stagge, and by tectonic subsidence later
